Under 12s Next Gen Cup (Report by Alex Gemenis)

The under 12 boys headed out to mazenod to play in the next gen cup. Entering this tournament was a great opportunity for the boys to test themselves against quality opposition.

They started the day against mazenod. The boys tried all match but unfortunately went down 3-1.

They then played Oakleigh and were down 2-0 at half time. They ended up the same score at full time with the boys having opportunities to score and not being able to convert.

A chat about the rest of the day and what they wanted to achieve from the day seemed to switch all the boys on and we came out in game 3 firing and came away with a 4-2 victory against Shepparton which allowed us to play a semi final against Oakleigh.

At this point you could see the confidence coming from all the boys and in the semi final it showed. The boys came home with a 1-0 win over a very strong Oakleigh outfit and progressing us to the final against Shepparton.

The final was one of the most complete team efforts from this group. They all put everything they had into it and were able to come away with a 2-1 victory and lift the trophy.

Every single player had a contribution throughout the day and it showed how much depth this group have. I hope they will all have found memories of the day.
