A true Bayswater Strikers legend both on and off the field, Mark “Murph” Murphy has dedicated 23 incredible years to the club. Murph led the way to multiple premierships and created unforgettable moments for players and supporters alike.

When did you join Bayswater?

“Joined Knox County as Bayswater was called then, in 1999 to play for a season & stayed until 2022.”

What’s your favourite Bayswater moment?

“To be honest I’ve been very lucky to have enjoyed many brilliant times and victories across all teams at Bayswater, but the stand outs are the Bayside girls Semi Final v Langwarrin and the Final v Hampton Park. The girls winning the cup was one of the best moments I can remember in my time.”

What’s the best social event at Bayswater?

“I always enjoyed Presentation night, watching players get rewarded for their hard work. On occasion it also gave me a chance to present some special awards.

End of season is where legends are made and the first real men’s trip to Adelaide created a standard rarely beaten.”

What advice would you give to new members?

“Nick and Pat Van Egmond laid down the foundations of this great club

Who’s your favourite teammate?

“I have had the pleasure of playing with many players over the years from all walks of life and very different levels of ability.

The one thing that I enjoyed was the camaraderie we had playing for the Club.

What excites you about 2025?

“The work done by all involved with the juniors has been outstanding and a massive pat on the back to all

Still keeping an eye on the senior squads to boot has been a great effort.

Who knows with the rumour of over 35s on the horizon the old Adidas Mundials may get a dust off for a 5 minute cameo”
