We will be starting off our Life Member series with none other than Steve “Burson” D’Urso, the clubs most decorated player and all-round top bloke.
How many years have you been with Bayswater?
Favourite Bayswater Moment
“Without a doubt my most memorable moment would be when I was coaching the Senior Women’s team in 2013 and we reached the Cup Final after beating Langwarrin, who won the league, in the Semi Final. We played the League Runners Up, Hampton Park and won 1-0 in a hard fought match. With a huge group of Bayswater faithful there, it made for a very special day!”

Best Bayswater Social Event
“Trivia night gets a special mention but my personal favourite has always been Presentation Night, there have been some really fantastic nights with plenty of laughs, a couple of sneaks and plenty of stories that seem to get new chapters as the years roll on.”
Advice for New Members
“Enjoy the football always and play the game in the right spirit, but the friendships you make at a club will determine whether you stay for a week, a year or if you’re lucky like me 15-20 years!”
Favourite Player
“I’ve had the pleasure of playing with some absolute superstars and all round good blokes over the years, all worthy of being mentioned here.
This being said I can’t single someone out but a few notable mentions would certainly be Emlyn, Murph, Rookie and Chris Jaques. Whether it has been in the Seniors or that infamous year in the Thirds I’ve enjoyed almost every minute playing alongside outstanding people.”
Looking Forward to 2025
“After a really successful 2024 campaign both on and off the field, I’m excited to see the further development of the junior program which, I think, surpassed everyone’s expectations this year. I’m also looking forward to the much anticipated addition of the Over 35’s and hopefully the return of some past players.”
Thanks for all your dedication and passion, Burson — we’re lucky to have you at the club! ![]()
